Animal Bites
What to do if you’re bitten:
1. Don’t panic.
2. Immediately wash the wound thoroughly and vigorously with soap and water.
3. Seek medical attention.
4. Notify your local public health agency and local law enforcement about the incident.
5. If animal cannot be contained and must be euthanized, try to do so without damaging the head so that rabies testing can be done, if needed.
Important Information
Please be aware that Callaway County does not have an animal control authority. The Callaway County Health Department will complete investigations for reported animal bites, but does not perform Animal Control functions.
