If you’re concerned that you or your child may have head lice, the Callaway County Health Department can help. Our staff provides quick, confidential head lice checks to give you peace of mind and help you take the next steps if treatment is needed.
Common Signs of Head Lice
Watch for these symptoms:
Itching and Irritation
Itchiness on the scalp, neck, or behind the ears.
Redness caused by scratching.
Nits (Lice Eggs)
Small white or yellow-white bumps firmly attached to the hair shaft.
Skin Changes
Open sores or crusting from frequent scratching.

Head lice checks are available:
Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Walk-ins are welcome.
