All lodging facilities, retail food vendors, and mobile food vendors must be permitted to operate in Callaway County.
All permits are renewed in January and expire in December of the licensing year. For initial or renewal information, call 573-642-5750.

Food Ordinance and Regulations

All food service establishments, including restaurants, warehouses, grocers, food banks, childcare facilities, schools, catering businesses, and mobile food providers, must follow Missouri Food Code and Callaway County’s Food Ordinance.

Lodging Inspections

Lodging Ordinance

All lodging facilities must follow Callaway County’s Lodging Ordinance while also adhering to the Sanitation and Safety Standards for Lodging Establishments defined by the State of Missouri DHSS.

The Environmental Health team ensures that all lodging establishments meet stringent standards to protect the health and safety of residents and visitors. We work closely with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), which oversees statewide licensing.

The Environmental Health Program ensures all licensed childcare facilities meet strict health and safety standards, in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Office of Childhood. Staff also evaluates private water supplies and onsite wastewater systems when applicable.
